Rituals and Rhythms

Rituals & Rhythm of the Day

To coincide with our curriculum, our routines are influential in providing children with infinite opportunities for learning and development. Routines being reoccurring in nature, support children to practice and develop confidence with new skills.

Our routines are carefully planned to be an integral part of our curriculum and often an opportunity to reinforce the learning that takes place in the programs.

The moment your child walks through the doors they will be a part of many routines. Some of these include arrivals and departures, mealtimes, transitions, packing away, toileting, and rest periods. These routines are filled will teachable moments where the educators plan to maximise children’s learning. For example, mealtime routines are an opportunity for children to identify names and colours of foods. They practice self-help skills as they self-serve, feed themselves and scrape their bowls. Another example, during pack away routines children learn the words to a pack away song. They practice their sorting skills as they return toys to their correct locations. They practice responsibility in keeping their play space tidy.

Our daily routines for all age groups are adapted to children’s needs and abilities. As these consistent patterns of activities nurture children’s development, they also provide them with challenges and the security of certainty and predictability.
