Emotional Intelligence

“If we want children to become creative leaders then we must learn to follow their lead at an early age.”

Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood

We believe that emotional intelligence is a highly valuable life skill. Emotional intelligence describes the ability to both empathise with others and to understand and express our own emotions. Incorporating emotional intelligence into early childhood education is crucial for developing well-rounded, empathetic, and resilient individuals.

The programs and learning experiences at Sage will not only enhance children’s cognitive abilities, but also support them in exploring and understanding their feelings, behaviours and how to effectively communicate and build relationships with others.

Strengthening children’s cognitive abilities paired with emotional intelligence will build a strong foundation in childhood that will have a significant positive impact later on in life.

Cultural Diversity

As Australia is a culturally and linguistically diverse nation, the need for children to learn and appreciate differences is an important part of their journey to adulthood. Incorporating understanding and appreciation of diversity as a part of our curriculum allows cultures, races and ethnicity to be celebrated in an inclusive and healthy way. This also gives us direction to explore and appreciate our Australian culture and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and culture into our practices.

Cultural and linguistic diversity is incorporated into our program on a daily basis. This is evident in our reading materials, music, cooking, crafts, play experiences, play resources, events, and other subtle measures. These simple measures promote inclusive practices and support children’s self esteem and self-identity as their cultures are valued.

Families are encouraged to share their culture to deepen our cultural competence as a Service. Where possible, all Parents and Caregivers information can be translated into required languages advised by families upon enrolment. The Centre will provide Interpretation Services contact number for families to access if needed.
