Excursions & Incursions

As part of our events calendar, we have carefully organised excursions and incursions planned throughout the year. Safety is strongly considered when organising these events and we ensure the content builds on our curriculum and contributes to children’s development and learning.  

Incursions bring the outside world into the centre. Children will meet visitors that will share new experiences and often involve them in hands-on activities.

Our walking excursions are purposeful and are a great way for children to explore the local Chippendale surroundings. Whether it be exploring local parks, or observing nature, the children will enjoy learning about the world around them.     

Let's get active

Our ‘Munch & Move’ program is part of our curriculum. Munch & Move is our healthy eating physical activity program. Our fitness coach attends the centre to run Munch & Move sessions with the children. During these sessions children get active and practice fundamental movement skills through fun games and fitness activities. Our Service Chef and educators implement the healthy eating part of the program where children explore a variety of fruits and vegetables.  
Yoga and mindfulness

Children participate in regular mindfulness activities to slow their pace and calm their minds. Yoga is practiced throughout the week and children explore stretching and breathing techniques. Some other mindfulness activities the children enjoy include Tai Chi, guided meditation, relaxing audio stories, and relaxation games.
Jolly Phonics

Phonetic awareness is an important part of children’s early literacy development. At our Service we use the Jolly Phonics program to support children in learning phonics. Jolly Phonics is embedded in the preschool weekly curriculum where children will learn phonics through repetition, characters, song and online games. Information on this program is shared with families so they can join in with supporting their child with phonics at home. 
ELLA

ELLA is an online language program that inspires children’s interest in learning new languages and cultures. This program teaches children languages through fun and interactive activities and games to gradually build on their competence.  
The library

Our fun library service allows children to practice borrowing and returning books in their very own Sage library bag.
Health visits

For your convenience the following services will be provided at Sage at allocated times throughout the year: vision screenings, dental visits, speech and occupational therapy
