Is My Child Safe?

At Sage early learning centre, we understand that finding the right centre for your child can be an overwhelming task. There is so much to consider and so many questions you would like to ask. We understand that one area that parents are keen to learn about is their child’s safety at the early learning centre.

Child Safety is our number one priority and is a consideration in everything we do at Sage. Here is how your child’s safety is embedded in our environment and our practices:

Security and Open-Door:

-           Our security system, including our pin code and swipe card entry, ensures that our centre is a secure place for children to play and learn.

-           Our Open Door policy welcomes our families to stop by and visit our Chippendale day care centre at any time to participate in the program and visit with their children. This often provides a sense of security for parents knowing they can access the centre and their child at any point.

Experience & Qualifications:

-           Our staff are experienced and qualified educators who have a professional qualification to work with children. We have qualified Early Childhood Teachers who lead our curriculum and ensure all our practices are high quality.

-           All staff that work at the centre have a valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC). They go through a thorough recruitment and induction process ensuring they are the right fit for us at Sage.

Cleanliness and Hygiene:

-           The staff at Sage day care centre ensure the cleanliness of the environment. Cleaning procedures are followed throughout the day with cleaning checklists being completed to ensure standards.

-           Play resources are sanitised on rotation ensuring they are disinfected and hygienic for children’s use.

-           At Sage we have professional cleaners that clean the centre in the evenings throughout the week.

-           Hygiene practices such as washing hands and wearing gloves are role modelled by educators and always encouraged with children.

Supervision:

-           Educators practice active supervision of children always ensuring they are close by and engaged with children.

-           Your child will be supervised at all times throughout the day including meal times, activity times and rest times.

-           Child to staff ratios are always maintained.

-           Additional educators are utilised where extra support with supervision is required.

Emergency Drills:

-           All educators are well informed about evacuation procedures and lockdown procedures in cases of emergencies. Emergency drills are practiced with children regularly throughout the year to ensure familiarity with procedures.

Safety Policies & Risk Assessments:

-           Our policies and procedures cover all areas of children’s health & safety. Families have access to our policies and have opportunities to review and provide feedback.

-           At Sage, we complete regular risk assessments of our environment and general activities. This means that we are always thinking of safety and we are always reflecting on how to ensure your child’s safety throughout their time with us. Our risk assessments are available to families if they would like to view.

Safety Training & First Aid:

-           Our team have a lot of knowledge and expertise with all areas of safety. Staff undertake regular training in First Aid, Asthma Management, Allergy & Anaphylaxis Management, Food Safety, Child Protection and Safe Sleep Practices. These are just some of the courses undertaken by the team. Our Staff participate in regular professional development and upskilling.

Resources and Play Materials:

-           Our play resources have been handpicked with children’s safety in mind. Our environment has been carefully designed ensuring that play spaces are safe and closely supervised by educators. With our daily safety checks in place, you can be rest assured that maintenance of our equipment and play spaces is always attended to.

At Sage early learning, we provide you with peace of mind, knowing your child is in safe hands and in a secure environment. Safety, health and wellbeing will always be our priority and our staff are well trained, knowledgeable and vigilant when it comes to keeping children safe.
